Today we’re going to do a comparison review of 4 neckband earphones, and all of these cost around 2000 Rs. 2 of these models have just been released, and we have the Samsung’s Level U2, and Boat Rockerz 255+ Pro with us, and we also have 2 slightly older competitors with the Oppo Enco M31, and the Oneplus Bullets Z.

Samsung Level U2 vs. Boat 255 Pro+ vs. Oppo M31 vs. Oneplus Bullets Z compare, specs

Design

So the design of Boat Rockerz, Oppo M31, and Oneplus Bullets is quite similar, all of these have a flexible neckband through which the wires come out.

The Oppo M31 is the lightest at 22 grams, and the other 2 are slightly heavier at 26 and 28 grams. All of these are quite wearable on your neck, but still, the Oppo Enco feel the least present.

The Samsung Level U2 has a very different approach here, as it features a hard plastic neckband that weighs 42 grams, which is significantly heavier than the other two. Its design is also quite different, a sits neckband is shaped to wrap around your body, and it works quite well.

The earphone wires come out of the back of the neckband, which is actually a better design, so even though they are heavier, you don’t really feel that on your neck.

One disadvantage of this design is that because the neckband isn’t flexible, you’re not going to be able to carry them around as easily as the other earphones.

All of these earphones have magnetically attaching earbuds, which is a really nice feature to have, but the Oppo and Oneplus earphones work a little differently, as both of them don’t have a power button, so they power on when you detach their earbuds from each other, and power off when you put them back in their attached position.

The Samsung and Boat earphones have traditional power buttons, and both of the approaches have their pros and cons, as you don’t have to press any buttons when using Oneplus and Oppo earphones, but they do disconnect from your phone when you put them in a resting position on your chest.

Controls

The controls on these earphones are also quite similar, as with the Samsung and Oppo earphones, you get the controls on the neckband, while the Oneplus and Boat have their controls on the earphone wire, and all of these earphones allow you to change volume, play and pause your track, and skip to the next or previous track.

On Samsung earphones, I wasn’t able to figure out a way to launch Google Assistant or Siri, but all the other earphones allow you to do that. The controls on Oppo M31 are easiest to use, the Samsung U2 is also easy to operate but it’s not easy to get a feel for their buttons as they’re integrated into the neckband material.

The Boat and Oneplus Earphones have the controls in their wires, which I don’t like because you have to find where that control unit is on the wire. It’s not a big deal, but it is less convenient than the other systems.

Comforts

Coming to their comfort, I would say that all of these can be worn for long periods, but there are some differences between them. So the Oppo Enco M31 has a weird oval shape on their earbuds, so even though they are comfortable to wear, it’s not the most ear-friendly shape.

The Oneplus Bullets have that more ear-friendly shape, so I like their feel better, but the Boat earphones have tiny earbuds, and they also have ear hooks in their design which work well, so between these three in-ear style earphones, I would say that these have an edge in the comfort department, even though the other two are also good.

The Samsung Level U2 has a hybrid earbud and in-ear monitor-like design, so they sit inside your ear, instead of going deep into your ear canal, so they feel very different. If you don’t like how the other earphones feel, these are quite good, and their neckband design keeps their earbuds feeling very lightweight,

so they’re very comfortable. But over time you do feel their presence in your ear, so they do tire your outer ear after some time, so the comfort level is as good as other earphones, but you may like these better if you prefer the earbud style.
